Refreshment stops at the Hennesee
:Always follow the hiking trail sign "A8".
At the parking lot at the Hennedamm Hotel there is a signpost for orientation. From here, walk through a pedestrian underpass to the Hennedamm. Here you will pass the hiking board on which the hiking trails around the Hennesee are marked. Once you reach the Hennedamm, turn left and cross the dam. Then continue to the right along the shore. The path along the eastern shore of the Hennesee leads along the asphalted and relatively flat lakeside path. This is car-free and a popular walking route - always with a view of the Hennesee. The route then climbs uphill along the western shore and through a forest. At the top, there is a fantastic view of the Hennesee before returning to the lakeshore. The trail is marked with the "A8" sign throughout.
If you don't want to walk the whole route, you can also cover part of it on the new EMS Hennesee event boat. You can change to the boat at 4 landing stages and cover part of the route in a relaxed manner on board. On weekdays, the ticket is a day ticket, so you can use the boat several times. Or how about a round trip on the Hennesee at the end of the hike?
The path leads us up to the dam and from there around the Hennesee lake. Always follow the trail sign A8.On the eastern shore you walk on a car-free, asphalted lakeside path. The path on the western shore takes you over a hill and through the forest with a wonderful view of the Hennetalsperre. There is a hiking board at the Henndamm parking lot where you can check the route.
We recommend that you bring sturdy shoes and sufficient food and drink.
If the weather is good, don't miss the Berghauser Badebucht for a refreshing dip after your hike. Children will love the "Pirate Bay Hennesee" adventure playground. Directly next to it, you will also find the modern H1 restaurant on the lake with a view of the Hennesee.
In the summer months, the Chill'in kiosk right by the dam near the Himmelstreppe is open in good weather.
If you don't want to walk the whole way and are looking for a shortcut: There are 4 landing stages on the lake for the EMS Hennesee event boat: Hennedamm main landing stage, Xavers Ranch, Mielinghausen and Berghauser Bucht. This means that part of the route can also be covered in a relaxed manner by boat.
