Lake Hennesee covers more than 200 hectares of water. Stretching six kilometers in length, it is up to 1,000 meters wide and up to 51 meters deep. As an angler, you’ll find many quiet, inviting coves here.

Lake Hennesee The following catch limits (maximum) apply per day of fishing at Lake Hennesee:
No more than 2 fish in total may
be caught
in a single day from the species pike, trout, zander, and perch > 35 cm
, and no more than 4 char and 8 whitefish (Example: 1 pike + 1 zander = 2 fish of the species listed)
Fishing: A maximum of two fishing rods.
Night fishing: Night fishing from the shore is permitted between June 1 and October 31.
Permitted bait:All, except live bait fish.
Boat fishing: Muscle-powered boats are permitted at no additional charge, including trolling. Electric boats are permitted only if they have a valid electric boat sticker. Please observe the current rules for protecting Lake Hennesee from the quagga mussel. Only boats permanently moored at Lake Hennesee are permitted on the lake!
Fish finders: Fish finders are prohibited from July 1 through September 30.

The following fish species are found in the Hennetalsperre:
Pike (up to 15 kg), zander (up to 10 kg), lake trout (introduced in 1993), eel (up to 2 kg), perch (up to 2.5 kg), Carp (up to 15 kg), tench (up to 3 kg), roach, bream, small whitefish
Minimum sizes/closed seasons (mandated by law in North Rhine-Westphalia):
Pike 45 cm, closed season from February 15 to April 30; Zander 40 cm, closed season from April 1 to May 31; lake and brook trout 50 cm, closed season from October 20 to March 15; Eel 35 cm, carp 35 cm, tench 20 cm
Roach, bream, small whitefish, and perch are not subject to any restrictions.

From one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Night fishing is permitted from June 1 through September 30. All baits are permitted with the exception of live bait fish. Boat fishing (using muscle-powered boats with a permanent mooring at Hennesee), including trolling, is permitted with all fishing license agreements at no additional charge. The use of an electric motor is permitted only in conjunction with a valid electric motor sticker.

Note:The Hennetal Reservoir is managed by professional fishermen from the Ruhrverband using funds from the commercial fishing sector. Their sole responsibilities are conservation fishing and extensive fish stocking to maintain and promote a fish population that is well-suited to the body of water and attractive to anglers.
Recommendation: Boat fishing : Take into account the temperature stratification of the reservoir water in summer, with fish primarily found at depths of up to approx. 15 m.
