On July 18, 2026, the Sauerland Rothaargebirge Nature Park invites you to a summer nature park tour with nature park guide Astrid Bauriedel. The circular hike leads from Nordhelle to the Piwitt nature reserve and the Wilde Wiese nature reserve. Participants can look forward to the impressive beauty of nature, including rare, blooming bog lilies, protected juniper stands, wet heaths and secluded single trails in extensive forests. The "Wilde Wiese" nature reserve, one of the oldest in the region, impresses with its deadwood stands, bog birch trees and the Homberg stream - ideal places to linger and marvel. On the Sauerland-Höhenflug long-distance hiking trail, the route leads past an old border tree and ends back at the parking lot. A perfect opportunity to enjoy nature and learn more about the protection of this unique landscape.
The hike will take approx. 2-3 hours (7 kilometers) from 10:30 a.m. on 18.07.26 and the Nordhelle hiking parking lot (P5 on the ridge between Meinerzhagen and Herscheid on the state road 707). Please wear weatherproof clothing and sturdy shoes. The hike is free for children and young people and costs 5 euros per person for adults. Children under the age of six do not need to book a ticket.
