The tourism industry in the Sauerland is an important economic factor, shapes the region and offers a diverse, attractive working environment. Many young people have therefore made a conscious decision to work in tourism. In order to bring together the numerous protagonists from the region, the 1st Sauerland Tourism Barcamp has now taken place under the motto "together.networked.future-oriented." took place at the Südwestfalen Music Education Center in Bad Fredeburg.
"With this alternative form of event, we want to give young players in the industry the opportunity to network more closely and gain new input for their work," says Rouven Soyka, press spokesperson for Sauerland Tourism, explaining the intention behind the event. "The principle of the bar camp with its informal structure and lack of strict guidelines provides the perfect setting for this." And more than 20 young tourism professionals accepted the invitation, expanding their knowledge in several 45-minute sessions, taking part in discussions and sharing their views on some tricky questions.
The special thing about the Barcamp principle is that at the start of the event, participants were able to suggest topics they would like to discuss themselves. "It was possible to offer a session yourself as well as 'just' join in the discussion," explains Julia Fust, co-organizer and responsible for international marketing at Sauerland Tourism. "The important thing about the barcamp format is the opportunity to share ideas, make contacts and perhaps even develop joint projects," continues Fust. All participants act as equals. Between the sessions and during the communal lunch break, there was always the opportunity to network and deepen discussions.
Sauerland Tourism as the organizer was supported by the Veltins brewery, which provided the participants with refreshing drinks from its range during and after the event and helped to give the event a young flair. "We would like to thank them once again for this," says Soyka.
