The two-story Wippekühl farmhouse was built around the year 1600 and has been entered in the list of monuments of the Schalksmühle municipality since January 1, 1987. In 1995, the historic building was extensively renovated. Today, the place is used as a museum to vividly convey the rural life of earlier times. For this purpose, numerous devices and exhibits can be seen on the outside areas and on both side haylofts, including, among others, a historical grass mower with grain discharger or a liquid manure pump.
On the grounds of the Wippekühl farmhouse there is also a so-called oat box, which in earlier years was used to store seeds. The original was torn down in 1965 and built as a faithful replica by the Verein für Geschichte und Heimatpflege in 2000. It originally belonged to the Worth homestead, which was several centuries old. With an imposing oak tree in the immediate vicinity, the farmhouse also has an impressive natural monument.
Since the reopening of the farmhouse in October 1995, it has been used as an event house for concerts, which are supervised by the members of the "Freundeskreis Bauernhaus". Also civil weddings are possible in the special ambience of this place since 1998.
For more information about current events, the cultural office of the municipality has the telephone number 02355 / 84-241 or -242.
By prior appointment, groups of visitors, kindergartens and school classes can also be shown and explained the "splendor".

Incidentally, the themed hiking trail "VolmeSchatz Wald - Unser Wald: Vergangenheit, Gegenwart, Zukunft" (VolmeSchatz Forest - Our Forest: Past, Present, Future) also begins at the Wippekühl parking lot, not far from the farmhouse. At the starting point, an information board provides an overview of the trail.
