Confession, culture and the Rothaar ridge separated the inhabitants of Bad Berleburg and Schmallenberg for centuries - sometimes until today. In order to build a bridge between identities, traditions and prejudices, the conceptual artist Jochen Gerz invited the people of both towns to send a letter across the Rothaar ridge to the other town and to write in this letter, for example, about their associations with the concept of home. On the other side of the Rothaar Ridge, these letters were then displayed on signs in the town. Their topics: Feelings, experiences, adventures and memories of people on the often not easy way to the other. The project "The Competition" is the starting and ending point of the WaldSkulpturenWeg.
The information panels are located at various sites in the urban area of Bad Berleburg and Schmallenberg.
