Denomination, culture and the Rothaar ridge have separated the inhabitants of Bad Berleburg and Schmallenberg for centuries - sometimes to this day. In order to build a bridge between identities, traditions and prejudices, conceptual artist Jochen Gerz invited the people of both towns to send a letter to the other town via the Rothaar ridge and to write in this letter, for example, about their associations with the concept of home. On the other side of the Rothaar ridge, these letters were then displayed on signs in the town. Their topics: Feelings, experiences, adventures and memories of people on the often not easy path to the other. The "Competition" project forms the starting and ending point of the Forest Sculpture Trail.

The information boards can be found at various locations in Bad Berleburg and Schmallenberg.
