Remains of the old town wall can still be seen in Obermarsberg today, including the water tower and the Buttenturm. In total, there were seven watchtowers along the town wall. Other watchtowers outside the town, from which the surrounding area could be easily overlooked, were the Mäuseturm and the Priesterbergturm on the mountain of the same name.

The Priesterberger Warte stands on the Donnersberg (Althar). It secured the district between Giershagen, Padberg and Obermarsberg and is hidden in the forest difficult to find.
