The Möhnesee is also called the "Westphalian Sea" - and not without reason, because it is the largest dam in the Sauerland in terms of area. 40 km of shoreline offer plenty of space for walking, hiking, cycling and water sports.

In 2013, the dam celebrated its 100th birthday, which incidentally, in addition to its impressive age, is also the heaviest architectural monument in Westfalen. In 1943, the wall was damaged by a British bombing start, but it could be quickly begun with the reconstruction.

Waves, forest, intact nature: The Möhnesee is one of the tourist pearls of the Sauerland and rich in cultural attractions. In the Hevearm and Hevesee nature reserves and in the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park, there is a lot to discover. And the region is not short of leisure activities either: Visitors will find Germany's largest adventure golf course, an ice rink, the Völlinghausen Wildlife Park and the Landscape Information Center.
