The Maxstollen site at the Eisenberg in Olsberg is a beautiful hiking destination.
The Eisenberg is one of the 43 Sauerland-Seelenorte in the Sauerland-Wanderdorf, www.sauerland-wanderdoerfer.de/. For a history of the Eisenberg Seelenort by Michael Gleich and other useful information, visit www.sauerland-wanderdoerfer.de/de/Sauerland-Seelenorte/Die-43-Seelenorte/Eisenberg.
The mouth of the disused ore mine adit is clearly visible secured with an iron gate. You can no longer enter the gallery, but interesting panels explain the mining history in Olsberg. Benches invite you to rest in the beautiful deciduous forest. The spring at the Maxstollen is of drinking water quality and is also used during Kneipp hikes for arm casts according to Kneipp.
The Maxstollen can be reached via the Kneipp hiking trail or the Waldroute. The Gasthof zum Schinkenwirt in the immediate vicinity offers refreshments.
