Ida Kropff-Federath was the last sole owner of the Olsberg Ironworks. Today this is the Olsberg GmbH. The roots of the company are the smelting of ore from the Brilon Eisenberg. In the 19th century, the smelter adapted to the changing market conditions in favor of the production of cast iron goods.
After the death of Ida Kropff-Federath on August 1, 1918, the Kropff-Federath Foundation was established. It still exists today and runs a children's home. The Gewerkenhaus Kropff-Federath is also a station of the Gewerkenweg.
