By renaturalizing the site, the town of Warstein is helping to further fill the CO2 storage capacities of the moor. Intact moors absorb precipitation like sponges, thus protecting against flooding during high water. They also store even more CO2 than forests can. Biodiversity is also strengthened. There is a lookout point at the raised bog, the bog itself is considered a highly sensitive natural area and may not be entered.
