The start of the Asten Uphill is at the parking lot of the Rothaar Arena in Schmallenberg-Westfeld. After a short flat roll-in along the "Schwarzer Siepen", the route leads in the direction of Hoher Knochen, or the Berghotel Hoher Knochen. The route continues in the direction of Kahler Asten past the hunting lodges. From here on it becomes steep and partly stony. After the Hintersten Hoher Knochen, you already touch the Asten plateau and come from the east to the Astenturm, which also marks the summit and, at 843 m above sea level, the third highest point in North Rhine-Westphalia.
