There is a QR code on each (themed) information board, which you can use to call up the route and details of the trail. Selected information boards are equipped with an additional QR code. Exciting additional digital information is waiting to be discovered by you.
As guests in the forest, we show understanding, respect and correct behavior to ensure the use, protection and recreation of our forest.
The themed circular trail "Mysterious Schanhollen and other tales" in the Kierspe Arney offers an insight into the world of legends and myths in the Oben an der Volme region on numerous themed boards.
Schanhollen are small, secluded people who live in caves and are native to the region. Elsewhere they are called "dwarves" or "brownies". Not far from the "Schanhollen" hiking rest area is one of their homes, the legendary Schanhollen cave (Hülloch); however, you are only allowed to take a look (detour approx. 200 m downhill) from the outside! The Schanhollen should not be disturbed. But if you like, you can rest a little on the forest sofa. The little creatures have nothing against it.
Short audio plays are available along the path via QR codes. They are child-friendly and lovingly introduce even small children to the wealth of legends of the Märkisches Sauerland. Dreamy paths, mysterious ponds and enchanted clearings stimulate the imagination.
By the way, there are more "legendary" things to discover in the"Magical world of legends at the top of the Volme".
Special features along the way: in addition to the information boards with exciting information and sometimes QR codes for further videos or audio tracks, you can also discover an adventure treasure chest and a panoramic picture frame along the way.
The "smallest" VolmeSchatz scores with a varied route along forest paths and small trails around Kierspe's local mountain "Arney". Despite being only 4 km long, it is a great little hiking experience with relatively little asphalt.Trail conditions: Road & asphalt: 0.7 km - Gravel path: 1.4 km - Nature trail: 1.2 km - Path section: 0.7 kmWe start at the Höhlen parking lot and follow the path into and up the Arney. After a few hundred meters, we reach the first themed board, which gives us an insight into the legendary world of Oben an der Volme. We cross the small forest, whereupon the path now circles the local pastures. After reaching the second section of forest, the path quickly bends to the right onto the small path. Continuing along the path, we soon reach another crossroads, where we keep left across a wooded fallow area. The path now climbs up to the highest point in the Arney.Accompanied by another themed board, we reach the highest point; here too, exciting stories await all hikers on a themed board. Now we follow the small path bending down to the right and soon reach the "Schanhollen" hiking rest area, with opportunities to linger and another themed board about the Schanhollen, which probably live here in the nearby "Hülloch".A detour up the mountain to the cave in question is possible; viewing is only possible from the outside of the site. The themed hiking trail now leads us back and slowly out of the Arney. We leave the forest, enjoy the view and soon reach the small hamlet of Höhlen again and return to the hiking parking lot.
First aid: In an emergency, dial the emergency number 112 and state the rescue point number. Rescue points are access points marked in the forest for rescue vehicles. If the nearest rescue point is not known, your location can be called up directly via AML (Advanced Mobile Location) during the emergency call.
In addition to the radio plays, the children's book "Der Silberbaum im Silberg" was published in 2020. Further information: https://visit.oben-an-der-volme.de/sagenwelt/
