Fritz-Linde-Museum

At the Fritz-Linde-Museum, visitors can view books and letters by Fritz Linde, Kierspe’s local poet. As a poet who wrote in Low German, Linde made a name for himself far beyond the borders of Kierspe and the Märkischer Kreis.

In addition, books by the teacher and writer Anny Wienbruch are on display. She wrote more than 100 children’s books. Fritz Karge’s Kierspe Low German dictionary is also on display at the Fritz-Linde-Museum. It contains approximately 20,000 words and served as the basis for Fritz Linde’s poetry.

Admission to the museum, which is operated by the local heritage association, is free. The museum is open every first Tuesday of the month from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and by appointment.

Culture lovers will find an invaluable treasure trove here for local history enthusiasts.

To cover operating costs, the local history association runs the café at the Fritz-Linde-Museum. Donations are also gladly accepted.

At the Fritz-Linde-Museum, visitors can read from and listen to readings of many books to help preserve the local Low German language from extinction.
