Get to know the Valme valley from its quieter side. Hike along the idyllic course of the Valme stream and through varied mixed forests.
You don't need to rely on maps as the trail is very well signposted.
Walk approx. 60m down the road at the"Pochwerk". Then follow the sign"VA2" to the left along the small path, over the small wooden bridge and to the edge of the forest. Then turn right along the Valme (stream) in the direction of Untervalme.Once in Untervalme(at two fish ponds), follow the road uphill to the left until you reach"Brigitte-Hennecke-Platz". On the right, between the house and the barn, there is a short uphill section. Turn left uphill and follow the path through the forest.Follow the path uphill for quite a while, always keeping to the left. Once you reach the ridge, head back towards Untervalme. After walking downhill for a while, you come to a sharp left-hand bend where you leave the path on a small path (on the right).Follow the path down to the left until you reach a bench at a small fork in the path. From there you have a beautiful view of the valley towards Obervalme. Continue downhill to the Untervalme. Then follow the road downhill to the fish ponds. From there, follow the path along the Valme back to the Valmetal hiking parking lot.
We recommend that you bring sturdy shoes and sufficient food and drink.
A rescue point system has been installed in the Hochsauerland district. Rescue points can be found on the information boards at junctions and on hiking signs.
The Wandergasthof/Landgasthof Rüppel offers a cozy place to stop for refreshments in Valme.

The hiking map has a scale of 1:30,000 and is GPS-accurate. Regional hiking trails and local circular hiking trails are marked. The back of the map contains information on excursion destinations, tips on places to stop for refreshments and leisure activities as well as an overview of the circular hiking trails with lengths and tour tips for the individual places.
The map material is weatherproof, tearproof and wipeable. The individual hiking maps are available at the tourist information offices "Around the Hennesee". They can also be ordered from bookshops throughout Germany.

Take the train to Bestwig and the bus to the bus stop "Ramsbeck Werdern". From the bus stop it is approx. 1.9 km to the hiking parking lot. You can reach the hiking parking lot from the bus stop via a hiking trail. To the timetable information: www.rlg-online.de
First take the A44 Dortmund/Kassel highway to the Arnsberg exit, then the A445 to Arnsberg and then the A46 to Bestwig. At the Bestwig exit, turn left to the center of Bestwig, then right towards Ramsbeck, approx. 7.5 kilometers. At the end of Ramsbeck, turn left towards Valme, approx. 2 kilometers.
