The path is not barrier-free. However, it is mostly passable with an all-terrain baby carriage. A few sections (for example from the refuge on the left uphill) can be avoided by walking parallel to the hiking trail on the paved farm track.
Not far from the village of Ruckersfeld, the 4.5 km Hilchenbach Adventure Trail leads through meadows, fields and the hilly mountains typical of the Siegerland region. Along the way, 15 information boards provide tips and information about stories along the way: the forest as a place of recreation, a supplier of raw materials or a habitat for animals and plants. At many of the boards, there are additional small hands-on activities such as searching for Hauberg signs on trees, feeling tree bark or looking through a telescope.
Benches and seating areas along the way invite you to linger and observe. As there are no major differences in altitude to overcome and the route is largely on paved paths, it is particularly suitable for families with children.
The trail, which is still known to many Hilchenbach residents as the cultural and historical learning trail, starts at the Oberbach hiking parking lot (between Herzhausen and Haarhausen) and is marked throughout with a fir tree as a signpost. If you have not been there for a long time, you will be amazed at how the landscape has changed as a result of the bark beetle and what views have opened up.

Remember that nature and the landscape are home to many animals and plants. Therefore, behave quietly and considerately on the adventure trail.
There is a scenic rest area halfway along the route. You must provide your own provisions. There are no refreshment stops along the route or in Ruckersfeld.
The flyer for the trail is available from the tourist information office in Hilchenbach (Markt 12, 57271 Hilchenbach).
If you don't have a car to get to the starting point at the "Oberbach" hiking parking lot, you can take the cab bus:
