First you walk uphill towards Berghammer. From there, you walk along the Eslohe circular trail and then the Sauerland-Höhenflug circular trail past the Esmecke-Stausee reservoir and from there around the Stilberg back to your starting point.

Hiking portal and Wenholthausen hiking parking lot

This modern hiking parking lot is located in the middle of Wenholthausen on the renaturalized Wenne, where numerous information boards provide information about the large hiking area.

Esmecke-Stausee reservoir

The Esmecke-Stausee reservoir, also known as Einbergsee, is a beautiful natural recreation area in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park.

Safety guidelines

A rescue point system has been installed in the Hochsauerland district. Rescue points can be found on the information boards at junctions and on hiking signs.

Author Tip

The Esmecke-Stausee reservoir invites you to take a break, especially on sunny days. You can go for a swim and treat yourself to a snack at "Armins Station", a kiosk right by the lake.
