Börde Therme Bad Sassendorf, Gartenstraße 26 (parking lot opposite)
The approx. 5 km long hiking trail A8 starts at the Börde Therme thermal baths. From there, the trail leads via Gartenstraße and "Zur Hepper Höhe" to the Quellenhof clinic and Freiherr-von-Wintzingerode-Park (wildlife park). It is worth taking a look inside the park here (see below).
The path leads somewhat more generously around the game park, past the Cosmann farm (wind turbine).
A wonderful view of the church silhouette of Soest opens up through the fields. Back in Bad Sassendorf, the trail runs parallel to the railroad line to the Börde Therme thermal baths.
This is a wonderful place to relax after the hike. Next door, the Gradierwerk invites you to take a deep breath. Or you can end the day in one of the small cafés and restaurants in the spa gardens and town.
To Freiherr-von-Wintzingerode-Park (named after the initiator Freiherr von Wintzingerode, who was head of the district of Soest and also created the "Arnsberg Forest" nature park): The park, which was created in 1960, covers an area of 15.5 hectares and is divided into 2/3 deciduous forest and 1/3 meadow area, which serves as grazing land for the fallow deer, mouflons and peacocks that live there. In December 1997, around 80 fruit trees, 10 chestnut trees and 9 walnut trees were added to the only partially existing meadow orchard. The park is open to the public free of charge. Its special feature is that people and animals can meet on an equal footing within the enclosure. In addition to its educational, recreational and adventure value, the Freiherr-von-Wintzingerode Park also fulfills a therapeutic purpose that should not be underestimated.
Path conditions: asphalted farm tracks, paved paths in the spa gardens
