A meeting place
The Gasthaus Thurmann unterm Bäumeken was a household name in Lippstadt. Not only the residents of the town but also farmers from the surrounding area met in the historic farmhouse. The large Deelentor gate led to stables where the horses were stabled while the owners stopped off in the guest room.

Innovative ideas
The landlord of the Thurmann inn was a real restaurateur. He had an innovative idea for serving his guests: A self-service schnapps. In the hallway to the guest room stood a bottle of grain or liqueur with a chained shot glass from which guests could help themselves. Payment was made by swearing an oath of honor with a coin.

A piece of Lippstadt history
Today, the Thurmann Inn no longer exists. Nevertheless, the name is a reminder of a time when hospitality and community were very important. The Gasthaus Thurmann was more than just a place to eat and drink, it was a meeting place for people and a reflection of the way of life at the time.
