In a small valley surrounded by paths, artist Lili Fischer has created a site historically known as “Witches’ Place,” featuring the relics of a supposedly sunken witches’ village. Chimneys, a weather vane, and gates made of large oven forks rise from the forest floor. At the center stands a giant witch’s cauldron, surrounded by open spellbooks.
The installation combines fairy tales, magic, and the myth of the witch with the historical reality of the witch hunts. It serves as a reminder of the cruel persecution and condemnation of alleged witches during the witch trials. On the opposite side of the valley lies the so-called “interrogation site,” where people were once sentenced to death as alleged witches.
