Park "Auf dem Wallen"
The park is located between the town hall and the Kulturvilla am Wall and is framed by ancient oak trees. Chill stones and comfortable benches invite you to relax. Play equipment under the trees and the adjacent playground are popular with children. Wreaths are laid in front of the peace stone on Remembrance Day. In summer, the traditional Wall Concert takes place here in the open air.
Neuenrade model
At the entrance from the street "Hinterm Wall", you pass the Neuenrade bronze model. The model probably depicts Neuenrade around the year 1600. The straight street layout and the houses, which all have their gable ends facing the street, are striking. The model stands on a base made of stones from the old town wall. Standing in the direction of the park, the viewer can see the Protestant church twice - once in the model and once in the background.
History trail
You can learn a lot on a walk along the history trail in the park. On the 200-metre-long path, 42 bronze plaques display important dates of global and local historical significance. The path is not 200 meters long by chance, but is laid out in such a way that this distance represents the time span from 0 to 2000 years. If you walk 10 meters along the history trail, you move 100 years back in history.
Court lime tree
The path leads past the 900-year-old lime tree. Courts used to be held here long before the town was founded.
Fountain in the park
The fountain forms the center of the park. The five stones in the fountain, from which the water gushes, symbolize Neuenrade and its four districts of Küntrop, Affeln, Altenaffeln and Blintrop.
The Kulturvilla is located right next to the park. Interesting cultural events are offered here. Brides and grooms can say "I do" here.
Reusch sculpture - art in public space
The sculpture turns the area in front of the Villa am Wallen into an unforgettable place. The sculpture and the space become a total work of art. As you walk around the sculpture, the supposed rigidity dissolves, the space changes and new associations are evoked. "The work of art is alive." The sculptor Erich Reusch, who lived in Blintrop for over 20 years and died at the end of 2019, donated the sculpture to the town. It was unveiled to the public on July 20, 2007. Erich Reusch was the first artist to incorporate the space into the effect of the artwork. He was an internationally renowned sculptor.
