With "Fantasiewelten", pianist Katharina Hack dedicates herself to the magical, liberated and deeply individual in art. In two contrasting halves of the concert, one classical, the other romantic, she presents works that go their own musical ways, far from the usual formal schemes. "Fantasy and improvisation go hand in hand. A musical idea can be poured into a form, but a form can also be created from scratch if you give free rein to your thoughts," says the pianist. In this way, very individual, highly emotional masterpieces such as Mozart's Fantasia in D minor and Beethoven's "Sonata quasi una fantasia" were created. In the romantic second part, the pianist's own works and improvisations will be heard alongside the musical portrait "Phoebé" by Bonis and Preludes by Rachmaninov.
