It was Caroline Neuber who first gave the theater, and with it actors and drama, the status in society that is so important today. In 1727, she founded a touring theater company, of which she became the principal. She succeeded in replacing the spectacle theater and the popular "Hanswurst" with poetic works of art with an aesthetic and moral format. The touring stages in particular tended to follow the flat comedy spectacle in the hope of success with the audience. But the courageous Neuberin was not deterred by this and became the most important theater reformer in history. John von Düffel is a dramaturge, writer and professor of scenic writing at the Berlin University of the Arts.
This event will be accompanied by a free introduction to the play by Linda Keil and Lasse Schulte.
Begins at 7.15 pm in the auditorium.
