Johann Strauss' "Die Fledermaus" - a cheerfully ironic operetta classic full of disguises, intrigue and timeless melodies that playfully lifts social masks.
To take revenge on his friend and bon vivant Eisenstein for a past embarrassment, notary Dr. Falke stages an elaborate disguise game at one of Prince Orlofsky's legendary parties.

After a night at the ball in which Falke wanders through the streets in the morning, drunk and disguised as a "bat", everyone is allowed to be whoever they want at Orlofsky's party - single or married, noble or exotic. But beware: surprises are hidden behind masks and false names, and in the end the champagne is blamed.

Johann Strauss' stage classic offers much more than "light muse" at
and fits in perfectly with our times. Popular melodies such as "Glücklich ist, wer vergisst, was doch nicht zu ändern ist", "Spiel ich die Unschuld vom Lande", Rosalindes Csárdás and the waltz in Act 2 make "Die Fledermaus" the most famous of all operettas.

This event is accompanied by a free introduction to the play by Linda Keil and Lasse Schulte. Begins at 7.15 pm in the auditorium.

With the kind support of Sparkasse Hellweg-Lippe.
