This tour takes the group on a local journey through time, from Lange Straße to Lippertor, introducing them to the twelve grocery stores that used to be part of the city center. The everyday life of the traders is described and it is also recalled that it used to be common practice for customers to bring their own containers for their purchases. After all, milk was still tapped by the liter back then, the desired amount of butter was cut from the block and flour, sugar or coffee beans were weighed out in bulk. Participants also learn how paper bags used to be cleverly sealed without any other aids so that the contents could not get lost.
