STONES, SOILS, WATER
On the geoecology of the Arnsberg Forest
Prof. Dr. Rolf Nieder, Arnsberg
The Arnsberg Forest covers 233 km2 and lies at an altitude of 250 to 400 m above sea level. Stony to fine sandy-loamy soils were formed on folded shales, graywackes and conglomerates of the Upper Carboniferous seamy deposits. The upper part, located in the south and east, is divided by long, east-west trending ridges and wet hollows.
Prof. Dr. Nieder, former academic director at the Institute of Geoecology at the TU Braunschweig, presents the geoecology of the Arnsberg Forest in his exciting lecture.
