Sauerland Fall 2026 - Folkwang Brass Essen

We are always committed to supporting emerging artists. We are delighted to welcome guests from Essen again this year as part of our series “Brass Ensembles from German Universities of Music Introduce Themselves” with a rousing program: the brass ensemble of the Folkwang University of the Arts, conducted by Prof. Christopher Houlding. Brass instruments have a long tradition at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Folkwang Brass is well known throughout Germany, especially in North Rhine-Westphalia. They take particular pride in their wide-ranging repertoire and their varied programs, which always offer a sense of great entertainment. In addition to the “three big Bs”—Bach, Brahms, and Beethoven—the program also features tango à la Piazzolla and more. We can look forward to an evening of magnificent compositions and wonderful music.
