The exhibition realizes the real contact between the art of two very different artists working in two very different places: A contact between the art of Ph. Göbel and A. D. Borgsen is created. Borgsen is created. They deliberately differentiate between gallery and church space!
Anne Doris Borgsen'sthree-dimensional objects and wall pieces reveal her decades-long creative process. She frees many of her earlier paintings from their frames and uses the canvases from now on. She folds the pictures of the past, shapes them, transforms the two-dimensional motifs into bodies and thus gives them a new life.
She uses wooden boxes as closed or open vessels from which the sculpture seems to grow. The forms are soft, aesthetically pleasing and infinitely enigmatic.
Borgsen's search for traces is directed towards the essence of painting and her material seems to outgrow itself. Atmospherically delicate and sensually present, the objects colonize the space.
Philipp Donald Göbel 's artistic approach is a dynamic, almost physical process of intervening in material and space. It is about a consistent transformation, a play with substance that creates a completely new reality by tearing, folding, bending, crumpling, cutting, restricting, dismantling, disassembling and reassembling: a breaking through of boundaries, a tension between the existing and the emerging, between stability and instability, between structure and chaos.
However, the aim is not the destruction of conventions for the sake of destruction, but a twisting, a subtle shift, the familiar in a new context. The result is a kind of poetic resistance that softens the rigid rules, deforms them and leads to new possibilities. What was once considered unchangeable becomes unstable, open - a space for freedom, movement, new perspectives.
The exhibition continues the summer exhibitions in Jakobi since 2017 and the cooperation within Lippstadt with the Kunstverein Lippstadt that began in 2019.
