Anyone who announces a guest such as Peter Sloterdijk is bound to be stunned. His linguistic virtuosity fills a universe of its own. As a philosopher ("Critique of Cynical Reason" (1983), "Spheres" (1998-2004)), essayist, diarist, novelist and librettist, host of the "Philosophical Quartet" on ZDF (2002-2012) and university lecturer - currently at the Collège de France - he is a controversial figure of outstanding importance in the public debate and could be the sole organiser of this festival. In many central topics of the past decades - be it the term "Europe", gender mainstreaming or the refugee crisis - he asserts a perspective critical of culture and ideology that exposes social manipulation mechanisms with virtuosity.
"Those who wake up in the morning and, after a start-up phase in the bathroom, recognize themselves as the person who lay down the night before can be considered stable and therefore tolerant of change. On the other hand, anyone who has reason to believe that the recognition effect might not materialize is at risk - and is probably prepared to do much, indeed anything, to defend the identity that he or she believes is slipping away."
