Around 12 noon, it gets loud on the grounds around the ironworks. Then the historic tractors of the Oldtimerfreunde Altenaffeln will arrive. The vehicles will be parked on the meadow in front of the Luisenhütte. This year, the group will be bringing agricultural machinery for the first time. The club members will be happy to provide information about their spruced-up treasures. The Horus falconry will also be visiting the industrial museum for the first time. They will be setting up camp all day with open tents at the Luisenhütte and will be bringing falcons, eagles, owls, buzzards and greyhounds. There will be an opportunity to take photos. At 14 and 16, the birds will demonstrate their flying skills in a show. At 1.45 pm, District Administrator Marco Voge will address the guests.
Music will also be provided: the mobile band ComboCombo will play a wide-ranging program from pop and rock to jazz throughout the event.
If you are interested in the Luisenhütte, the exhibition and what has happened there in recent years, the open guided tours of the industrial museum are just the thing for you. These start regularly throughout the day.
There is also plenty on offer for children: If you like, you can make necklaces from natural materials just like in the Stone Age and take them home with you. Those who enjoy transforming themselves can have their imaginative face painted at Buntica. At another stand run by the museum's education department, you can make your own seedbombs. Seedbombs are small balls of earth containing seeds. These are simply placed on bare patches in the garden and transform the area into a small flowering insect paradise. Young guests can make candles from beeswax at the stand of the district beekeepers. The association provides information about bees and honey can also be purchased there.
The culinary side is also catered for: the Wasserfreunde Balve swimming club sells coffee and cake, and a selection of cold drinks is also available. The Balve Turkish-Islamic Association will be baking fresh, hearty Turkish pizza. The countrywomen offer regional bratwurst in a roll.
The Museum of Prehistory and Early History of the town of Balve is currently closed for renovation. Guests can find out more about tourist topics and the Balve History Park at a stand.
