Why settle for just one encore when you can have an entire evening of them? That’s what the Monet Quintet asked itself, and without further ado, it put together a program featuring all the encores from its more than 10-year history as an ensemble. From classics of the wind quintet repertoire to folk-inspired works and arrangements of famous evergreens, the Monet Quintet plays pieces that are lively and dreamy, witty and wistful—but always captivating!
The musicians of the Monet Wind Quintet met as members of the German National Youth Orchestra. They founded their ensemble in 2014, while they were already studying at various conservatories. The ensemble regularly performs at renowned chamber music festivals, has been awarded scholarships, and has been included in the “Federal Selection of Concerts by Young Artists.” All five musicians hold soloist positions in renowned orchestras and are prize winners of national and international competitions.
The young wind quintet will guide the audience through the evening with a brief introduction of their own. And what’s a night like this without? Of course—an encore!
