Live! Manfred Mann's Earth Band in the Volksbank-Arena Sauerlandhalle
Everyone has hits like "Blinded By The Light", "Davy's On The Road Again", "Mighty Quinn" and "For You" in their ears. Manfred Mann and his legendary Earth Band have been responsible for all these immortal musical gems for over five decades. This guarantor of top-class live entertainment is coming to Lennestadt for a show on October 24 in the Volksbank Arena Sauerlandhalle.
The Earth Band became famous immediately after its foundation thanks to its sensational live concerts. This has not changed to this day. Founding member in 1971 was guitarist Mick Rogers, who still plays in the band. At the beginning of 1992, Manfred Mann brought the group, which had disbanded in 1988, back to life. Since 2011, Manfred Mann's Earth Band has been on tour with a new voice: Robert Hart (ex Bad Company). Thanks to him, the Earth Band's program is even more rock-oriented. When they perform today, it is as if they have "fallen into a fountain of youth", as the magazine "eclipsed" wrote last year.
The "Schwäbische Zeitung" outlines Manfred Mann as a "mysterious magician" as he "sat half-hidden behind his instruments: keyboard, organ, electric piano, synthesizer, which tell of Mann's decades-long and enduring love for his instruments". The bandleader elicits the very sounds from the keys that make up the unforgettable catchy tunes. Most of the songs were originally penned by others, mostly Dylan and Springsteen. But Manfred Mann takes them on, makes them his own and in most cases even more successful than the original versions. At the live performances, the band leader sets the tone, but he gives his excellent musicians plenty of leeway. The result, as the Berliner Morgenpost judges, is a show "full of the finest handmade rock".
