Meta Boldt doesn't take the truth too seriously. She can be found in stairwells at any time of the day or night, eavesdropping on doors and spying on people, only to immediately pass on her knowledge.
Meta Boldt lives in a rented house with the retired tax inspector Ewald Brummer and the widow Hanne Knoop. Hanne Knoop has given up her separate room to young Heike Seefeldt, who can no longer stand being at home with her father.
Young Dieter Brummer is also no longer at home, so he moves into the room belonging to his uncle Ewald, much to his uncle's displeasure. Door to door with Heike.
Meta Boldt takes a close look at the new occupants and causes amusing mix-ups, annoying misunderstandings and serious disputes with all kinds of complaints, intrigues and shenanigans.
The unforgettable Hamburg folk actress Heidi Kabel shone in the role of gossip aunt Meta Boldt in 1962 and 1969. It has long been her daughter Heidi Mahler who has left her mark on this four-act farce.
