Giovanni di Lorenzo, head of the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT since 2004, is currently probably the most successful editor-in-chief in the German media landscape. He is also very versatile: he has hosted the popular talk show "3nach9" since 1989. Reading his conversations with such diverse personalities as Pope Francis, Umberto Eco and Angela Merkel, it is striking how finely di Lorenzo chooses his words and forges his questions so that the interviewees can reveal their individuality and uniqueness. One recognizes an often underestimated art form in these conversations. And so language, its role in the media age and the responsibility that journalists bear in dealing with it will also take up space in the conversation with Michael Göring, alongside political and social issues and the special task of free and independent journalism.
