Lisa, in her forties, a successful real estate agent, divorced and mother of a daughter, has a car breakdown in Greece, where Guillaume, a student camping on the beach, comes to her rescue. The two spend the night together, but back in New York, everyday life quickly returns.
Lisa's mother Monette wants her granddaughter Annick to be engaged to Guillaume, the "heir to great spinning". Lisa, on the other hand, would rather distract herself with the likeable Mr. di Fiori.
The reunion with Guillaume causes Lisa a great deal of confusion, and Monette eagerly spins the yarns, while Guillaume deliberately sets out to conquer the reluctant successful woman.
"Forty Carats" is an elegant, amusing and heartfelt comedy of twists and turns by Pierre Barillet & Jean-Pierre Grédy.
