Hermann Broermann came to Grevenbrück in the 1940s after extensive artistic training and work in Cologne, Koblenz, Berlin and Trier. He is considered a master of the watercolor technique, his pictures are strongly influenced by the style of impressionist painting and the influence of natural light. Broermann belonged to a generation of artists who moved away from a realistic style of painting towards a much freer depiction of their own perception.
The exhibition features watercolors, oil paintings and red chalk drawings from his extensive oeuvre and the three areas of painting that Broermann was most passionate about: Landscape painting, detailed floral depictions, and finally portraits.
