"It's the little things"
Back to school at 65 ...
French comedian Michel Blanc plays a rugged illiterate in "It's the little things". However, the overriding theme of this endearing provincial comedy is the death of rural life.
For Alice, the primary school teacher and mayor of a small village in the middle of Brittany, the glass is always half full. She has a good word for every villager. If someone complains about a pothole, she plugs it herself. And if an accident happens in front of the town hall, she personally looks after it.
One morning, stubborn pensioner Émile sits in Alice's primary school class. He admits meekly that he can't read, but wants to learn in his old age. And because Alice has a good heart, she unofficially re-enrols the 65-year-old. He immediately starts behaving like a first-grader again.
"With its affectionate humor, this successful comedy has just the right message for all those who sacrifice themselves for others in everyday life (...) Feel-good cinema à la bonheur, four stars and five hearts." (filmstarts)
