In the 1950s, widowed Florence Green (Emily Mortimer) moves to the seaside town of Hardborough and opens a bookshop. With a passion for literature, she brings a breath of fresh air to the sleepy community. The reclusive Mr. Brundish (Bill Nighy) becomes her silent supporter.
