All-day program for young and old.
This year marks the 577th anniversary of an event from the Soest Feud (1444-1449), which went down in the annals of the old bathing town and the entire present-day town of Warstein as the "Belecke Storm Day" of 1448. In the fall of 2022, the centuries-old commemoration of this event was awarded the title "Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO in the NRW State Inventory". The festival commemorates the unsuccessful attempt by the renegade Soest to storm and plunder the town of Belecke, which was loyal to its Electorate of Cologne sovereign. This all happened in the early hours of the Wednesday before Whitsun 1448.
The storming day traditionally begins at 5:00 a.m. with the gunfire of the storming day gunners, which is repeated every quarter of an hour until 8:00 a.m.. At the same time, there is the popular and very popular rustic Storm Day breakfast at the sawmill, which leaves no culinary wishes unfulfilled and for which only a donation is requested.
