22nd edition of the FALKE Rothaarsteig Marathon near Schmallenberg-Fleckenberg.

The magnificent low mountain range landscape of the Schmallenberg Sauerland is once again the backdrop for this year's increasingly popular FALKE Rothaarsteig Marathon. Trail running fans can expect a run along the natural paths of the Rothaarsteig and an event with a particularly familiar atmosphere.


In addition to the obligatory 42 km route, marathon runners also have to master 838 meters of altitude. Half marathon aspirants still have a challenging 21 km and 421 m difference in altitude to contend with. Walking and Nordic walking are also on offer for the half marathon distance. There is also the AOK run over 12.5 km. Refreshment points with fruit and drinks will be available to runners approximately every five kilometers.


Participants and spectators can also look forward to a varied supporting program. These include massages, slide shows, live coverage of the races, sports equipment stands and over 100 cakes lovingly baked by some of the more than 150 volunteers.


The Schmallenberg Sauerland Tourist Information Office will be happy to help visitors find suitable accommodation.

How to get there Schmallenberg is easy to reach by car via the following routes: BAB 45 "Sauerlandlinie" from Dortmund, highway exit Olpe BAB 45 from the direction of Frankfurt/Stuttgart, Olpe exit BAB 4 Cologne/Olpe, to the Wenden interchange, continue on BAB 45 in the direction of Dortmund to the Olpe exit (approx. 5 km) BAB 44 from Dortmund to Werl junction, continue on BAB 445 towards Arnsberg to Meschede/Enste (B55) or Wennemen exit BAB 44 from Kassel to the Erwitte/Anröchte exit BAB 2 Hannover-Dortmund to highway exit Paderborn continue on BAB 33 Once in Schmallenberg, drive in the direction of Fleckenberg. At the crossroads in Fleckenberg, turn off towards Latrop. The shelter is on the right-hand side (just after the church). Parking On the day of the event, various free parking spaces are signposted in Fleckenberg. Public transportation By train or car to one of the following stations: Lennestadt-Altenhundem station, Meschede station, Winterberg station. From Lennestadt-Altenhundem station with the SB9 bus line From Meschede station with the S90 bus line, change in Schmallenberg to the SB9 line. From Winterberg station, take the S40 bus line and change to the SB9 line in Schmallenberg. The SB9 and 466 bus lines run in Fleckenberg.
