In Oberveischede, the first digital recording of tourism infrastructure has been successfully implemented with the beta version of the new "GRENZENLOS - Infrastructure Manager" system. The cross-regional ERDF funding project in South Westphalia and Bergisches RheinLand pursues the overall goal of recording and managing tourism infrastructure in a sustainable, data-based and efficient manner. The system test that has now been carried out shows that important steps are being taken in this regard.
As part of a pilot test, the Veischeder Sonnenpfad and the Waldvogel-Weg were fully digitally mapped and recorded in the system. A particular focus was placed on the integration and use of existing geodata. GIS data for the locations of all benches from Smart City Olpe has already been successfully integrated and linked to the tourist content. This enables a much more precise representation and better networking of the infrastructure.
"By digitally recording our infrastructure, we are creating the basis for greater quality, transparency and efficiency in tourism. The infrastructure manager is a key building block for this," explains Lorenz Starkloff, lead project manager in the ERDF-funded "GRENZENLOS" project.
The successful test run represents an important step in the further development of the "GRENZENLOS - Infrastructure Manager" system and demonstrates the potential for future-oriented, data-based recording and maintenance of tourism offers in the region. The new system is being developed by Sauerland-Tourismus e.V. and the Sauerland Rothaargebirge and Bergisches Land nature parks and will later be used by them and the SGV.
