The historic town center in Lippstadt, Schloss Hovestadt in Lippetal, the Bördelandschaft in Welver or Haus Füchten in Wickede (Ruhr) - these are just some of the highlights that make the four municipalities in the very north of the Sauerland an attractive destination for excursions. The four municipalities in the district of Soest are now officially members of Sauerland Tourism, which has been promoting day trips and vacations in "Germany's inspiring outdoor region" as a destination marketing organization since it was founded in 2004.
"We are delighted with the municipalities' decision, as this will further strengthen our joint Sauerland brand and allow us to intensify our already excellent cooperation," says Dr. Jürgen Fischbach, Managing Director of Sauerland Tourism. After all, the Sauerland is not only the strongest region in NRW in terms of overnight stays, but is also one of the most popular low mountain regions in Germany and attracts holidaymakers and day trippers all year round.
The district of Soest, in particular, has become an absolute drawcard for touring bike fans with its recent certification as a RadReiseRegion Hellwegbörde via the ADFC and impresses with a wide range of highlights such as the Möhnesee with its imposing dam wall, sights such as Soest's Altstadt and its wide range of restaurants and hotels. "It is the variety of offers in particular that makes the Sauerland so attractive for holidaymakers," adds Frank Linnekugel, Chairman of Sauerland Tourism. "With our four new member municipalities, we are gaining further supporters for tourism marketing."
