How do guests choose their excursions today and what does this mean for tourism providers? This question was the focus of the second edition of the "Day of Excursion Destinations", to which Sauerland Tourism had invited guests to the Center Parcs Park Hochsauerland in Medebach on Monday, April 20. More than 70 representatives from excursion destinations, tourist information offices and partner organizations used the event to exchange ideas and engage in joint discussions.

The focus was on the changing decision-making behavior of day visitors. They are now planning more spontaneously, making more conscious decisions and at the same time have high expectations in terms of quality and experience. The desire to make the "right" choice and not waste any time places new demands on communication, orientation and offer design. "Today's guests need more than just good offers. They need orientation, trust and clear information," says Max Hoffmeister, Deputy Managing Director of Sauerland Tourism. "Together with our partners, we are working on preparing experiences in such a way that they are easier to understand and safe to choose from."

The event kicked off with a keynote speech by Boris Ege, General Manager of Center Parcs Park Hochsauerland. He showed how guests' expectations and decision-making processes are changing and what consequences this has for excursion destinations. In the subsequent panel discussion, it became clear that, in addition to attractive offers, a clear approach, a credible attitude, sustainable action and the sensible use of digital support are crucial. The aim is to guide guests better without overwhelming them.

"The joint exchange helps us to develop a clear picture of today's guests and to further develop our offers accordingly," explains Rouven Soyka, press spokesman for Sauerland Tourism. "The Day of Excursion Destinations shows how important cooperation is in order to give guests confidence in their decision." In addition to professional impulses, the event also offered space for networking and practical insights into what Center Parcs has to offer. At the concluding discussion, key findings were pooled and initial approaches for further cooperation in the Sauerland region were formulated.

With the second edition, the "Day of Excursion Destinations" has established itself as an important platform for dialog within the region and should continue to provide impetus for the sustainable further development of excursion destinations in the Sauerland in the future.
