Schalksmühle
The mountain and valley community of Schalksmühle is also ideal for a hiking trip into nature due to its varied landscape. Numerous marked hiking trails guide visitors across fields, meadows and through forests. The two themed hiking trails of the VolmeSchätze, the family-friendly circular trail A3 at the game reserve Mesekendahl, as well as the tour tip "Natur-er & Kulturwandung" between the Rotthausen heights and the popular Glörtalsperre are to be highlighted here.
The Volmepark in the heart of the community is particularly popular with families. The recreational area with many play opportunities and playground equipment offers a special kind of cooling in the summer months with the water playground there. In the neighboring center, a stop at an (ice cream) café is worthwhile. The Glörpark in the Dahlerbrück district also offers an entertaining recreational area for young and old, including a beach volleyball court.
