More than 50 mountains over 500 meters high rise within the city limits, including the Langenberg, which, at 843 meters above sea level, is the highest mountain in North Rhine-Westfalen. This water-rich city in the valley of the young Ruhr River looks back on a long tradition of Kneipp therapy and brings Kneipp’s teachings to life in an active and modern way. Pure relaxation awaits in the unique atmosphere of the newly designed Kneipp Adventure Park. The blue watering can guides visitors along the six-kilometer-long Kneipp Activity Trail through the park, past the ten rest stops—the park’s interactive stations. Hiking, water, well-being—the Olsberg Kneipp Hiking Trail winds 39 kilometers around the town center—a true hiking experience.
Olsberg and its twelve charming villages offer the perfect setting to truly unwind. In Bruchhausen, the “Europagolddorf” (European Gold Village), visitors can explore the impressive natural monument known as the Bruchhauser Steine. Here, visitors will also find an all-weather toboggan run and the Kneipp Sensory Garden. In Assinghausen, the “Village of Roses,” the village’s romantic charm is palpable. Four Rosenwege wind through the village, rare roses thrive in the front yards, and on the outskirts of the village, in Küsterland, a walk-through “rosary” made of roses has been created.
In addition to many cultural highlights and authentic Sauerland traditions, guests in Olsberg have numerous opportunities to stay active in their free time. The well-known RuhrtalRadweg runs right through the town center. Hikers can climb the local mountain, Olsberg, which features a summit cross at an elevation of 703 meters. All of this can be easily combined with a visit to the Sauerland thermal spa, AquaOlsberg.
