An outstanding feature of the trail are the many far-reaching views of the Sauerland and Wittgenstein mountains and beyond. The observation tower on the Ziegenhellen at 816 m above sea level offers a 360° panoramic view. The unobstructed views are the result of bark beetle infestation and storms, which many spruce trees were unable to withstand. In addition to the impressive views, the trail also leads past several places steeped in history (Gaulskopf, Hubertuskapelle, foresters' houses, a monastery steeped in legend) and several specially protected landscape features such as moors, ravines and old Buchenwald forests. The 812 m high Wallershöhe is another "800 m" part of the route. A turn-off to the highest point in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district is signposted there.
