The Gewerkenweg Brilon - Olsberg main trail offers an in-depth exploration of the region's mining history. The route leads along historic transport routes that were once used to transport raw materials, opening up scenic passages with sweeping views.
Traces of mining can be seen along the way, bearing witness to the demanding work of the miners. A tour of the tunnels gives you a direct impression of the underground working world. The heavy physical exertion of the journeys through narrow hollow paths from the tunnels to the huts in the valleys, as well as the importance of the charcoal burners for the extraction of the required fuel, is impressively conveyed.

The main trail takes you past 14 stations over a length of around 11 km. The starting or finishing point in Brilon is the Haus Hövener Museum, in Olsberg the Haus Bathen.The "Alte Hütte Loop" also starts at the Haus Hövener Museum, passes 7 further stations and joins the main trail after around 10 km at the Hilbringse customs station.
