On the outskirts of the small Erndtebrück district of Zinse is the nature park hiking parking lot of the same name.
Hiking experiences around Zinse
A beautiful 11 km circular tour begins at the Zinse hiking parking lot with the A 1, which first leads to the Dreiherrnstein (673 m). Formerly the border between the Duchy of Westphalia and the counties of Nassau and Wittgenstein, this is now the border between the districts of Siegen-Wittgenstein and Olpe. The route continues along the Rothaarsteig trail into the picturesque Schwarzbachtal valley. Rare and species-rich forest and open land habitats have developed here, where the nature reserve was once characterized by spruce afforestation, thanks to targeted maintenance measures. After passing the Hufeisenstein, you return to the starting point via the Hermeskopf (611 m). From there you can also start the shorter A4 (7.5 km). Also passing the Dreiherrnstein, this circular trail then leads through the "Zinser Bachtal" nature reserve with its special plant and animal species, such as the kingfisher and the black stork. You then return to the starting point along the Zinsebach stream.
TIP: If you want to find the Hufeisenstein and its history, leave the Rothaarsteig access trail at the "Hufeisenstein" hiking trail signpost and take hiking trail A 1 towards the Haberg nature reserve for a few meters. At the height where a forest path branches off to the right, after a few steps turn left "through the bushes" to the Kurze Dörbach and recognize the Hufeisenstein with a trained eye. The legendary Hufeisenstein. The legend tells the story of the Count of Wittgenstein, who tried to trick his way into the Rüsper Forest, which belonged to the Principality of Electoral Cologne. He jumped over the stream on his horse from the stone and showed the astonished people of Cologne the horseshoe print. Equipped with an MP3 player or smartphone, you can experience this "border history up close". Further information here.
