WVG supplies around 11,000 households in Warstein and the surrounding area with electricity and around 5,500 households with natural gas. The company was founded in 1999 and is 59.8% owned by the town, 25.1% by innogy SE and a further 15.1% by the Warstein brewery. 15 employees work for WVG in Warstein, some of them on a family-friendly part-time basis. The electricity and gas grid was transferred to WVG-Netz-GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of WVG, on January 1, 2015. The electricity and gas grid is operated on a lease basis by Westnetz GmbH, the distribution grid operator of innogy SE. The Managing Director of WVG Netz GmbH is Thomas Walkiewicz. The Managing Director of WVG mbH is Andreas Schunk.
