The "Alte Drahtrolle Am Hurk" is a historic wire drawing mill with a small museum. Located directly below the Springer spring, a true-to-original water wheel still drives the wire drawing machine today. Visitors can see how cobbler's needles for working leather are made with the help of water power.

Like Altena, Evingsen was initially a place characterized by iron production. Later, the water power of the many local springs and metallurgical knowledge were used to process the iron. In the Springer Tal in Evingsen, which is only a few hundred meters long, twelve wire drawing mills (wire rolls) have been built since the 16th century - all powered by water wheels. Today, seven of these buildings remain largely unchanged. One of these is the "Am Hurk" wire roller. The exact age of the facility is unknown.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the reel was only used as a grinding and polishing mill. Later it was used for residential purposes. In 1985, the small museum with grinding stone, roller barrel, awl grinding bench and fine wire drawing machine was opened. A small wire drawing restaurant with historical furnishings was operated in another former wire roller. The water wheel still drives the historic machines for wire drawing and wire processing.
Visitors can see the quality of the abundant drinking water for themselves at the Springer spring tap.
